Summer in Auckland is even better with a book! All libraries will be open throughout the holidays except for public holidays: Monday 25 December (Christmas Day), Tuesday 26 December (Boxing Day), Monday 1 January (New Year’s Day) and Tuesday 2 January, with the exception of Botany Library and Great Barrier Island Library.Botany Library will be open throughout the holiday period and close only on Christmas Day.
Botany Library will be open on Tuesday 26 December, 9.30am – 5.30pm (Boxing Day), Monday 1 January, 10am - 5.30pm, and Tuesday 2 January, 10am - 5.30pm.Great Barrier Island Library is closed from midday Friday 22 December to Sunday 7 January.Mobile libraries are closed from Saturday 23 December. Regular schedule resumes Monday 8 January 2018.
Extended loans will apply to all borrowed items from the end of November through to mid-January. See here for more details on extended loan periods.

Auckland Libraries loan periods for books, DVDs and magazines will change over the summer holidays.

From Saturday 25 November you will be able to check out certain items for a longer period of time to accommodate reduced hours during the Christmas holiday period.

These changes will continue to roll out in December.

Loan rules for Nov 2017- Jan 2018
From 25 November - 28 day loans become 42 day loans From 9 December - 14 day loans become 28 day loans From 16 December - 7 day loans become 14 day loans From 6 January - 28 day loans go back to normal From 13 January - 14 day loans go back to normal From 20 January - 7 day loans go back to normal
